How to Split an Absence (multi-day)
Splitting an absence is an option for multi-day absences. When an absence is split, instead of one record with an extended absence, it is broken down into smaller entries (individual dates, or separate segments) to make it easy to manage and monitor.
1. From the Absences and Substitutes menu, you can edit an existing absence to split it, or you can create a new absence and then split it.
2. The "split" button will only show after the original absence is saved
3. When splitting an absence, you can split it into single dates (quick and easy) OR you can create multiple date ranges
4. If selecting to split into multiple date ranges, click the "Add Absence Period"
5. For each new absence period, click "Add Absence Period" and then select the dates until the full absence is covered.
Then click "Split"
6. Note that in the Comments section, "Split from #" will display on each absence that was split from the original.
7. Click "Save"
8. Now you will see individual absence records that were split from the original lengthier absence. From here you can add subs, and make changes as needed.
