In workflows, each step has three approver slots. Approvers added to these slots are always notified when the workflow reaches that step. Any of these slots can approve the workflow step. If routing based on criteria like employee type or location is needed, set up workflow approval criteria.





How to Add More than 3 Approvers in a Step


While 3 Approvers on a given step is the default maximum, Helios can enable up to 6 approvers for a step, here's how: 



Workflow Designer

From the Workflow Designer Menu, click into the Workflow that you would like to update.


Design Workflow

Click on Design Workflow to get into the backend of the workflow that you are editing. 

Workflow Steps

Locate the Workflow step where you would like to add additional Approvers. 

If Approver 1, 2, and 3 are already populated in the Step Approval section, click the orange button next to Approval Type that will allow you to Edit Criteria. Here you will create a new criteria that will establish up to 3 additional Approvers.


New Criteria

Here you will click Add New to create a brand new criteria.


Approval Type

Click on the 'Select Existing Approval Type' dropdown. From here click + Add Item and you can call it '6 Approvers' or whatever you feel is appropriate



Set New Approvers

Add the 3 additional approvers that you'd like for the Workflow Step and then click Save. 

Note the name that you saved this Approval Type as, you will use it in the next step.



Add to new Approval Type to Workflow

Now that we've created a new Approval Type - with 3 additional approvers, we can add that to our existing workflow step to complete the process. Select the new Approval Type 'Six Approves' from the dropdown list. You will now see the original Approvers 1, 2, 3, and with the 3 additional Approvers created in the new Approval Type it will total 6!
